THIS BOOK IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT KETTLE OF FISH.
This is a marketing practical guide and a workbook in one.
I’m currently staying up in the middle of the night to read it with highlighter and pen and paper on hand.
I already had moments of self awareness in regard to my marketing strategy for my business and I’m looking forward to see amazing growth after applying the wisdom from it.
Louis you are a legend. I don’t know you personally but I know enough to respect and admire your dedication and amazingness.
If the title doesn't make you open the book, then this book is not for you. Once you open it and work your way through you will learn how to make yourself be different in a very positive way. Louis uses real life experiences, humour, and excellent advice that he has cultivated over years of study and application to help you build your own outstanding position in your market.
I’m very impressed by this book. Stand the Fck Out* shows you how to truly stand out as a brand. It doesn’t offer a random collection of tips, but instead focuses on the full picture of positioning, branding, and communication - and how to align them in a way that actually resonates.
I’ve read many marketing books recently, and this one ranks at the top. The tone is personal, direct and it feels like someone is finally telling you what you really need to hear.
Actionable, fun and no bullshit. Delivers exactly what it promises! Great book for everyone who is looking to get new angles and know-how in the field of marketing.
As a newer business owner, this book helped to validate a lot of the work we had been doing so far and pushed us to be even more ambitious. It really takes apart the core basics of a brand - positioning and customers — and provides detailed approaches to clarifying those aspects of your work. The tone is humorous yet authoritative, striking a balance that feels confident without being overbearing.
I've been working in marketing for around 10 years. I've read dozens (if not 100+) books on almost every aspect of marketing, branding, positioning, etc, and have had a lot of success marketing my own business as well as helping my clients and customers market theirs.
Even with all that experience, there were several unlocks Louis' book gave me that helped me reframe and refine my thought process about a couple key aspects of differentiation and positioning, specifically when it comes to the visual design side of things.
I really like the regularity with which Louis comes back to the same fundamental goals and concepts around which all of your marketing should be oriented, and he makes the devilishly difficult process of differentiation feel approachable... and dare I say, even fun.
Can't recommend this book highly enough for anyone looking to create a standout brand.
I don't work in marketing but in customer support. I discovered this book because I was looking for an offbeat CX newsletter. Louis Grenier's "Stand the F*ck Out" is a treasure trove of unconventional wisdom and practical techniques that transcend job titles. The mindset and approaches detailed in this book aren't confined to marketing: they can change how you tackle challenges in any field. It's a game changer for anyone looking to make an impact.
Louis offers actionable steps for figuring out your audience and the way into their hearts (wallets). It’s evident the book is filled with hard-earned skills and that Louis walks the walk!
To be honest, I initially bought the book as a tribute to the years of quality podcast episodes that I consume with a bit of guilt for stealing (and monetizing) so much wisdom.I thought this book would gather dust on a shelf and I would never think about it again. At least until the next time I heard "Bonjour Bonjour!" by Louis on Spotify. But then, I gave the man my 30 euros, right? We're even, I guess.
Needless to say, I took my sweet time to read the book and, fuck me, it was great. 4 years of shattered wisdom condensed into one handy thing, presented by a rooster in a beret. A method that is dense and clear, actionable (to use a trashy word) and clever.
It's the book I want every one of my clients to have read so that we can start enjoying our work and doing it properly (not chasing after the last hack who'll get away with robbing us of our credibility, costing us our souls, what's left of our dignity and my faith in humanity).
Thank you Louis.
(Ps : pardon my english, i'm french like our favorite contrarian.)
I read it through in one go to get an overview, without doing the tasks or even thinking too deeply about them, just making notes about where I should start, and marking the important pages.
That read-through was enough to see that this is an excellent work book that holds your hand through a well tested process, helping you to discover/confirm/reject key concepts, to understand your audience and your relationship with them.
Please excuse me, I must vomit now, thank you, bye bye.
I've been sold on the Jobs to Be Done framework for years as a way to develop products and build a message around them.
That last part, building a message around them, has been the hack when it comes to jobs to be done. Us marketers love the concept, but many of the books out there focus on product (particularly digital) and don't flesh out to elements of communicating that job and your solution to buyers.
That's what this book does.
Step by step, super practical nuggets on how to build a product or service that satisfies an unmet need then build a brand around that job.
This is a framework book, the type you'll go back to every time you need to gather market insights and refine your message.
Love it.
Everything you need to know in order to do 2025 "marketing" no horseshit marketing.
Seamless methodology by someone who knows what he is talking about.
Buy now, pay now, and thank later.
Why? It’s incredibly practical, easy to follow step-by-step and also has a bit of humour thrown in for fun.
It also shifted my perspective on a few marketing “truths” I’ve held onto for a long time. I’m sure this new insight will make me a better marketer.
Thanks Louis!
This book is what you need if
- you don’t know anything about marketing (Lucky you, start here and don’t look around)
- you know a lot from marketing people(even if they’re great instructors and marketers) who each has their own genius in part of the marketing pie and you need to tape what you learned together
Louis made a great job simplifying and logically arranging how to think and execute a whole marketing plan starting from zero till the end(even if there’s no end, but for every single thing you have to do you can rinse and repeat the methodology)
I love frameworks, and I haven’t put this book aside from the day I got it. Don’t expect to read it one time. I’m going back and forth and it’s always on my desk while I’m working
And needless to say: it has the right amount of humor needed to cheer you up while panicking over planning or executing your marketing strategies.
This book is a warm hug for anyone doing client work and helping people grow their businesses that you’re not missing anything of the shiny stuff cool kids sell. And it shouldn’t be easy as they try to tell you Although the book simplifies the process
P.S: if you order a package it comes with a French man head sticker that your toddler will 😳 at
Simply stated: this book had a true impact on me, and my business.
It helped me to realize that you can dare. You can try. It's ok to be wrong, to fail even sometimes.
The Storytelling Tribe, my own venture, hopefully will stand the f*** out thanks to this book.
